Aimee Gibson & Catherine Rose lead title winners at the inaugural LTA Padel National Championships

Rocket Padel Bristol hosted the inaugural LTA Padel National Championships over the weekend, concluding four days of top-tier competition with champions crowned across eight categories.
Bringing together the nation’s leading junior, open, and senior athletes, the event marked a major milestone for British padel. Competitors battled for national titles, a £10,000 total prize fund, and valuable LTA ranking points, in an event that showcased the very best of the sport in Britain.
Throughout the Championships, spectators witnessed the depth of talent within British padel—from established stars at the top of the rankings to the next generation of rising players making their mark on the national stage. The success of the inaugural edition underlines the sport’s accelerating momentum and its growing presence within the UK’s sporting landscape.
Top seeds and British No.1 and No.2 Aimee Gibson and Catherine Rose took home the women’s open title, while Alex Loughlan and Louie Harris were crowned men’s open champions.
Gibson and Rose had a strong run to the final, only dropping two games across three matches. In the final, they came up against the second seeds, Abigail Tordoff and Lisa Phillips, who fell short in a competitive final that ended 6-2 6-3.
Reflecting on the win, Rose said, “It’s amazing to win the first ever LTA Padel National Championships with Aimee. It means a lot to both of us and I know we really wanted to win this one. We had some really tricky matches, we had to lock in, focus, and I’m really pleased with how we’ve played and how we’ve been on court.
"It is the perfect end to the season. It’s been a long one with highs and lows. We have had some good achievements, and this is the icing on the cake."
Gibson commented, “I just want to thank the LTA for not only putting on this tournament, but also for supporting me or the whole year. Without their support and help from my sponsors it wouldn’t be possible to travel to tournaments, so a big thank you!
“I’m super happy to be the first ever British champion. I came into this tournament feeling pretty tired, but playing with Catherine is easy. It’s always nice to play with a friend and the perfect way to end my 2025 season.”
In the men's draw, there was an upset in an exciting quarter-final match, which saw Alfonso Patacho and Chris Salisbury defeat the top seeds Christian Medina Murphy and Ryan Wyatt 2-6, 6-4, 6-3.
However, in the final Patacho and Salisbury were eventually beaten by GB No.2 and No.3, Loughlan and Harris. The second seeds were too strong for Patacho and Salisbury who claimed a convincing 6-2, 6-4 win to claim the first ever men’s LTA Padel National Championships title.
“It's a massive win,” said Harris. “I am so happy and still soaking it up. We were always confident, but there were a couple of moments where they played some really impressive points, they made us play better, it was a great match.”
Loughlan added, “We work well as a team. Even though we got a little tight in the second set we weren’t afraid to go for it in the big points.”
In one of most exciting elements of the weekend, a host of juniors from as young as 12 fought it out to lift the under 18 trophies. The boys event was particularly strong with some sensational shot making and closely fought matches in both the semi-finals and the final.
In the end, Ben Philipps and Conchise Inde Bennett edged out Liam De La Mare and Olly Hayday in a final containing just one break of serve.
In the girls’ category, Chloe De La Mare and Rosie Quirk, who also reached the semi-finals of the Open event, were too strong for all comers and stormed through the draw to become the first National Champions.
Tom Murray, LTA Head of Padel reflected on the success off the LTA Padel National Championships saying, “It’s been a brilliant four days at Rocket Padel Bristol for the inaugural LTA Padel National Championships. This event has been the pinnacle competition of our 2025 season, with over 250 players competing across eight categories. These Championships not only showcased the best players in the country but also reflect the incredible growth and excitement we are seeing for padel in Britain.
"The level of the players competing in the junior categories is incredibly promising, and this serves as a platform for the LTA to continue developing the game and the performance pathway for our players going into 2026 and upcoming years. A big thank you to all the players, tournament team, volunteers, and spectators who made the first LTA Padel National Championships so successful.”
LTA National Performance Pathway Manager, Libby Fletcher spoke about the player performances saying, “I could not be prouder of all the players’ performances over the past four days. The finals across all eight categories were the highest level of padel, showcasing the strength and depth of padel in Britain. It was great to see how excited the players were to become the first ever LTA Padel National Champions.
This tournament is a credit to the LTA and how strong the British padel playing field is currently, and the next generation of players we have developing. We are committed to improve the tournament year on year and make it a staple in the LTA performance competitions calendar. It’s great to have the best British team players competing at this event and act as role models for the younger generation of GB players, inspiring the next generation.”
