Who will be competing for Great Britain at the FIP Euro Padel Cup Final 8?

Women's team

2025-Aimee-Gibson-FIP-action.jpeg

Captained by Libby Fletcher and Agustin Gomez Silingo, GB's women will be spearheaded by Aimee Gibson, who is one of two British players currently ranked inside the world's top 100.

Gibson, 33, is joined by British No.2 Catherine Rose - who has enjoyed a stellar year so far, having picked up two FIP Silver titles alongside Gibson back in January. Rose ticked off another milestone of her own back in September when she cracked the world's top 100.

Tia Norton, who has played padel for Great Britain since the age of 12, also brings immense pedigree to the team despite being only 22. Amongst her many impressive career milestones, she became the first British woman to make the main draw of a Premier Padel event last November in Mexico.

Lisa Phillips also returns to the team following impressive performances for her country back in July. Phillips teamed up with Rose to win the deciding tie against Sweden which sealed Great Britain's spot in the Final 8 and has gone from strength to strength ever since.

15-year-old Rosie Quirk has also received the call up once again and could be set to make her international debut. Hanna Maddock and Laura Jackson competed alongside each other back in the July's qualifiers and will be looking to bounce back after narrowly losing out in their two matches against Sweden and Poland.

Men's team

Long-term British No.1 Christian Medina Murphy will once again lead British hopes in the men's competition. The Alicante-based star won the fourth FIP title of his career in April in Hong Kong and regularly makes inroads in the draws of Premier Padel events (the elite level of the world tour).

Medina Murphy was instrumental to GB's success in Madrid back in July having joined forces with Sam Jones to secure two wins. The pair could prove a key partnership in GB's bid for the title in Spain as they look to pick up where they left off in the international stage.

Also looking to maintain their 100% win records from Madrid is Louie Harris and Alex Loughlan who didn't drop a set in either of their two ties against Switzerland and Greece.

Men's captains Sandy Farquharson and John Leach have also named Nikhil Mohindra, Spain-based newcomer Jamie Lobo and Sandy's younger brother, former tennis pro Tom Farquharson. Alfonso Patacho completes the line-up.

Who are the reigning European padel champions?

It will come as no surprise that Spain are reigning champions in both men's and women's events after taking both titles at last year's championships in Sardinia, defeating Italy in both finals. Spain have won 11 of the 13 European Championships men's titles and 10 women's.
