• 3 minutes read

This weekend brought international success in both the men’s and women’s competitions at the FIP Bronze in Taunton.

At City Padel, there was success for the male and female seeds, with Spanish pair Susana Martin Marin and Paula Ferran securing the women’s title, while fellow countrymen and top seeds Pedro Melendez Amaya and Daniel Luna Peinado triumphed in the men’s draw.

The FIP Bronze EWH City Padel Taunton welcomed 32 pairs in both the men’s and women’s draws, with players competing for valuable FIP ranking points and the prestigious title.  Alongside 31 Brits competed across the women's and men's draws, with British No.2 Louie Harris, and British No.6 Alex Loughlan having the most successful run but eventually lost out in a competitive quarter-final match.

The competition in London was the fifth and final FIP Tour events in Great Britain this year as part of our LTA Padel Performance Competitions Calendar to offer British players the chance to earn both prize money and valuable ranking points on home soil.

Howard Scott, FIP Bronze EWH City Padel Taunton Tournament Director reflected on the tournament saying, “It’s been a fantastic week of competition at City Padel Taunton, welcoming British and international players to Somerset and seeing some excellent padel on court. Hosting a CUPRA FIP Tour event just four months after opening is something we’re incredibly proud of.

"Having our own coaches competing and giving the local community the chance to watch professional padel made the occasion particularly special. Thank you to the LTA, FIP, officials, sponsors, spectators and our club team for making it such a memorable event.”
