Catherine Rose wins FIP Bronze title in Turkey

British No.2 Catherine Rose secured her third FIP title this year at the FIP Bronze QNB Cup Izmir in Turkey alongside her Spanish partner Rebeca Lopez Lopez.
The second seeds were dominant across the week, dropping just one set on their way to claiming their first title together.
Their toughest test of the tournament came in the semi-finals, where they battled past third seeds Maria Portillo Perez and Nika Sluzhiteleva in a hard-fought three-set encounter, 4-6, 7-6, 6-1.
They carried that momentum into the final, producing an assured display against top seeds Ana Varo Ramos and Marcella Koek to secure a comfortable 6-4, 6-1 victory and lift the title.
"I’m really happy to get the win in Turkey, beating the number one seeds in the final. It’s been a challenging few weeks with a new partnership, finding our feet together,” said Rose, who is currently ranked 93 in the FIP rankings.
“We’ve had some tough losses in a few tournaments, and a really tough semi-final in this one where we came from a set down, saving match points, then to come back and have such a strong performance in the final was great, and I’m really proud of myself.
“I’m also very proud of me and Rebeca as a partnership for finding that level together in the final. It’s been a lot of hard work and to keep believing in ourselves."

Rose also faced an additional challenge off the court, with her luggage going missing and not arriving until Saturday evening, leaving her without any of her kit or personal belongings for much of the tournament.
The FIP Tour is a professional-level circuit officially sanctioned by the International Padel Federation (FIP) and is the first stage of the professional padel circuit, featuring four levels of competition - bronze, silver, gold, and platinum.
Rose now turns her attention to the FIP World Cup 2026 qualifiers that will take place at Pádel G24 club in Madrid and include 55 national teams from 29 countries, competing for four places (two men’s, two women’s) in the FIP World Cup draw.

Elsewhere on the FIP Tour, Aimee Gibson and her Spanish partner Eugenia Guimet enjoyed an impressive run to the final of the FIP Silver Guimarães, finishing runners-up to top-30 duo Marta Barrera De La Fuente and Jana Montes Cabruja.
