International padel stars and British juniors claim silverware at FIP Silver R3 Bullpadel Cup

• 2 MINUTE READ

Stratford Padel Club in London played host to the fourth and final British International Padel Federation (FIP) event of the year, with a host of international and British talent headlining the list of winners at the FIP Silver R3 Bullpadel Cup.

The tournament - which took place between 7-12 October - is part of the LTA Padel Performance Competitions Calendar, offering British players the chance to earn both prize money and valuable ranking points on home soil.

The FIP Silver R3 Bullpadel Cup in Stratford was the last competitive playing opportunity for the Great Britain team who head out to Cadiz later this week to play in the FIP Euro Padel Cup Final 8.

The women’s final saw the unseeded team of Eugenia Guimet Bigas from Spain and Maria Laura Ferreyra from Argentina defeat the third seeded Spanish team, Camila Fassio Goyeneche and Rebeca Lopez 4-6, 6-4, 6-1 to claim the title. Three of the 16 British women who entered the main draw reached the quarter-finals at Stratford Padel Club, including British No.1 Aimee Gibson and the all-British partnership of Catherine Rose and Tia Norton.

Meanwhile the men’s draw, an all-Spanish clash in the final saw Andres Fernandez Lancha and Alvaro Cepero emerge victorious after they beat Alberto Garcia Trabanco and Juan Zamora Perez 6-3, 6-4. Of the 11 British men who competed in the main draw of the tournament, only Alex Loughlan and Louie Harris advanced past the first round in Stratford. Loughlan and Harris have previously played alongside each out in the FIP Euro Padel Cup and could be set for action once again as the team head to Spain to compete in the Final 8.

Sam Mole (Stratford Padel Club) and Sam Kemp (R3), co-Tournament Directors said, “It’s been another incredible FIP event at Stratford Padel Club. Despite it being the third FIP event at the club, it has felt like a week of firsts - Stratford’s first time hosting the newly formed FIP Silver and FIP Promises - including the first ever girls promises event in the UK - and the first time Stratford Padel Club and R3 have worked in partnership to deliver a tournament.

“We’re delighted to say that it’s been a roaring success in all aspects from the level of play across the five categories to the record-breaking entry numbers and amazing spectator attendance. Finally, we would like to thank the players, spectators, partners and everyone that worked so hard to deliver a fantastic week for Stratford, R3 and for British padel.”

The event in Stratford also featured the FIP Promises R3 Junior Cup, offering U14 boys and U18 boys and girls a valuable opportunity to compete against international talent on home soil. This marks the first year the UK has hosted FIP Promises events, and many of the young athletes taking part recently represented Great Britain at the FIP Junior World Cup.

Amongst the junior stars who swept up the silverware were Rosie Quirk and Chloe De La Mere who claimed the 18U girls' title and Andrew Dunn who lifted the boys 14U trophy.

LTA National Performance Pathway Manager, Libby Fletcher reflected on the British junior success at the FIP Promises R3 Junior Cup saying, “It was fantastic to attend the junior FIP Promises event at Stratford Padel Club, which saw strong entries in both the 18U boys and girl’s categories.

“Rosie (Quirk) is part of the GB team heading to Cadiz for the FIP Euro Padel Cup Final 8, highlighting her impressive development. At the FIP Junior World Cup, neither Rosie nor Chloe (De La Mere) lost a match, and they continue to be fantastic role models for the team.

"Hosting FIP Promises events in the UK is a vital part of the LTA junior pathway, providing young players with essential exposure to international competition on home soil. It’s also valuable for juniors to experience the professional atmosphere alongside the FIP Silver tournament, learning from top players. The landscape is evolving rapidly, and it’s encouraging to see a strong British presence and more juniors competing at this high level.”
