Aimee Gibson wins first FIP title of 2026

• 1 minutes read

British No.1 Aimee Gibson has secured her first title of 2026, winning the FIP Bronze in Doha alongside Spain’s Alba Perez Momha.

The top seeds were in commanding form throughout the tournament, not dropping a single set on their journey to the final.

Gibson and Perez Momha continued that dominance as they faced the second-seeded pairing of Italy’s Camila Ramme Coellar and American Brittant Dubins in the final.

The final proved to be a competitive encounter, with both pairs claiming a set apiece. However, with the score at 3-2 in the deciding set, Ramme Coellar was forced to retire after suffering an ankle injury with the match finishing 6-1, 1-6, 3-2.

Gibson, who is currently ranked 89 in the world reflected on her first title win of the year saying, “I’m super happy with the win, especially as it’s my fourth FIP title in a row with Alba. It’s great to win my first title of the season, Alba is super happy too. Coming back from six weeks of pre-season to win the title together is a very nice feeling.”

“Overall, we are very happy with our performance in the three matches beforehand, especially in the semi-final where we won 6-0, 6-1, and played a really good high level together.”

“My regards go to Camila in the final, we were one set all, 3-2 and then she had pain in her ankle, so she had to retire in the last set.”

The FIP Tour is a professional-level circuit officially sanctioned by the International Padel Federation (FIP) and is the first stage of the professional padel circuit, featuring four levels of competition, bronze, silver, gold, and platinum.

Gibson’s victory in Doha extends her remarkable run of form in 2025, a season in which she became the first female British padel player to break into the FIP rankings top 100, claimed five FIP titles, three silver, and two bronze, while also being crowned the inaugural LTA Padel National Champion alongside Great Britain No. 2 Catherine Rose.

The GB No.1 is set to continue her Middle East tour alongside Alba Perez Momha this week, starting in Bahrain as the third seed at the FIP Bronze tournament. She will then head to Egypt for her third consecutive FIP Bronze event, entering as the top seed and looking to extend her impressive run of form.

Looking ahead to 2026 Gibson said, “I’ll be playing the rest of the season with Alba so I’m looking forward to what’s to come, taking good steps in the right direction.”
