British No.1 Aimee Gibson is the new FIP Silver Reap Hong Kong champion after an impressive week alongside Spaniard Alba Perez Momha.
The top seeds reached the semi-finals having dropped just one game, before knocking out fourth seeds Melissa Martin and Camille Sireix 6-4, 7-5.
Gibson and Momha went on to clinch the title without losing a set – finishing with a 6-2, 6-4 final win over Spanish duo Ana Varo Ramos and Lucia Micaela Fernandez Lopez.
This is Gibson’s third FIP Silver title of the season, adding to her wins at the FIP Silver Australian Open and FIP Silver Melbourne.
“So happy to win the tournament,” said Gibson. “It was my first time playing with Alba and although we were number one seeds, I’m so proud of how we played.
“We played a really strong final against two girls inside the top 80 so I’m really happy to have that win together.”
Gibson’s standout season has seen her rise well into the world’s top 100. The Briton has played in five finals, reached a further six semi-finals and won her first match in on the Premier Padel Tour in qualifying for the Alpine Paris Major.
She also helped lead Great Britain to the FIP Euro Padel Cup Final 8, where the team finished third in the group stage.
“I’m super proud to win another FIP Silver, I haven’t won one since Australia," she added. "To win this towards the end of the year and getting 80 points is really good for my ranking before the end of the year.
“I have two more FIPs to go and then looking forward to playing the first ever LTA Padel National Championships where I’m playing with Catherine Rose. It’s going to be such a good event and hopefully we can win the title.”
The LTA Padel National Championships will take place from 4-7 December at Rocket Padel, Bristol.
