Aimee Gibson secures hat-trick of FIP titles

• 2 MINUTE READ

British No.1 Aimee Gibson has won her third title in three weeks at the FIP Bronze BBK Manama II in Bahrain over the weekend alongside Spain’s Alba Perez Momha.

The top seeds once again proved their dominance at the FIP Bronze event in Bahrain over the weekend. After reaching the final without dropping a set, the British, Spanish duo delivered another strong performance, defeating the fourth-seeded Italians Giorgi Rosi and Matilde Minelli 6–3, 6–1.

The victory adds yet another milestone to Gibsons impressive season, securing the 34-year-old’s fifth FIP title of the year.

“Going into these last three FIP’s of the season I would never have thought that I would win three FIP titles, back-to-back. It’s a dream for anyone that is a full-time athlete. The dream is to always be in finals, to win tournaments."

I feel really proud of my hard work and it shows that if you keep working hard week by week, sometimes the results don’t always fall your way but if you keep working hard then it soon pays off.

The victory in Bahrain marks the latest feat in what has been a standout year for the world No.81. She has won three FIP Silver titles in Melbourne, Hong Kong and at the Australian Open, as well as winning the FIP Bronze in Crete last week.

“To win at the end of the year with a slight injury, first time playing with Alba (Perez Momha) it couldn’t have gone better with her. We are going to look to play together a bit more next year."

Later this week, Gibson will turn her attention to the LTA Padel National Championships which will take place from 4-7 December at Rocket Padel, Bristol, where she’ll team up with British No.2 Catherine Rose.

“Now it’s full focus on the LTA Padel National Championships, one last push this weekend, then I’m looking forward to having a break with my family over Christmas.”
